BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2-year project starting on 1 July 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The project is looking towards a “Design Once” approach for formulation of challenging poorly soluble drug compounds. The project is based on the desire to design products of poorly soluble compounds using a formulation platform that will enable a large dose range and with environmentally sustainable excipients and manufacture processes. The project is financed by Astra-Zeneca, SE.

Information on the department can be found at: https://farmaci.ku.dk/

Our research
We are a young team with many years’ experiences in formulation of poorly soluble compounds. We focus on developing both amorphous solid dispersions and lipid-based drug delivery systems with the aim of obtaining a high drug load and a high drug absorption. We design predictive models of drug behavior in the gastro-intestinal tract and also carry out pharmacokinetic studies in animals.

Your job
Your task will be to design and establish methods to determine the best formulation approach for model poorly soluble drugs. These will include solubility and supersaturation propensity of drugs in both polymer solutions and lipids. Based on this, formulations will be developed and characterized by in vitro models, e.g. in vitro digestion and dissolution/permeation models. Finally, the success of the formulation strategy will be evaluated by pharmaco-kinetic studies in rats.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in pharmacy, chemistry or related areas.
  • You are highly experienced in physico-chemical characterization and formulation of poorly soluble drugs.
  • You have an active interest in oral drug delivery.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Excellent English skills - written and spoken.
Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience in preformulation of poorly soluble drugs
  • Experience/knowledge in/of in development of lipid based drug delivery systems
  • Experience in analysis of the solid state of drugs
  • Experience/knowledge in/of physiological relevant drug release models
