Laboratory of Genomics and Molecular Biomedicine (GMB), Department of Biology at SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen is looking for a laboratory technician starting 1 August 2023 or as soon as possible. The position is for a 2-year period.
About us
Our research focus is on metagenomics and its application in different areas from obesity and diabetes to farming animals and arable land. Many of our projects try to elucidate the interplay microorganisms and the surrounding environment and host organisms. We take part in animal and human intervention studies investigating the connection between health status and metagenomics.
The position
We are looking for a lab-technician who will perform various tasks in the lab, from indexing and handling samples shared from our collaborators to performing standard molecular biology operations and operating our robots for nucleotide extraction and library formation in preparing for various types of sequencing.
The tasks include:
- Perform and document analytical laboratory work, including:
- DNA & RNA extraction
- Quality check of DNA/RNA
- Library preparation
Various other methods within molecular biology
Possibly assist in animal experiments

The ideal candidate holds a degree as laboratory technician, can work systematically, carefully and has experience from working in robot and sequencing lab with a focus on QC. Moreover she/he:

Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary is made in accordance with The Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and it officers in the state.
You will be employed as a laboratory technician at salary grade 3. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The position is a full-time employment.
